Hopper
Am/Can CH Knightcastle Graceful Hopper
I could not resist to include the little 'lime girl' from the 'Great scientists' litter into my breeding program. She belongs to long time flatcoat owner Gordon W Miller in Vermont (USA) and he did not object to include her in my breeding program.
In this litter, she was the first to open her eyes and also the first one to swim in the creek. She is very well balanced, has good bones and has a very smooth temperament. She has a nice top line and exactly the kind of heads I like, the Knigtcastle ones! She is a great representative of the bread, I'm really proud of her.
Hopper went to the FCRSC specialty in August 2013 in Brockville ON and she did good, like her sister Kia. She then went to the American flat-coated specialty in St. Louis in April 2015 and received lots of compliments. With a nice 3 points major, she gracefully finished her Canadian Championship on September 20 2015. All her points were made in the 'Bred By Exhibitor' class.
She obtained her American Championship very easily on July 30 2016 mostly with majors. Funny thing is that she did her American Championship twice as she got all the necessary points one time but she was not registered with the AKC yet, so she had to redo it all over again! Her and her uncle Baxter are the only Knightcastle dogs to have both championships: Canadian and American.
Hopper was bred to Darwin (Am CH Bramatha The Under Graduate JH) in September 2016 and delivered eight puppies on November 18 2016 for her the 'Great musicians' litter from which I kept Cosette.
The final chapter of the third generation was written by her as she was bred to Hudson (Am Ch/Can GCH Rowansgaard Paint it Black RN DS CGN) in October 2018 for the 'H' litter, born on December 16 2018. She was carrying ten puppies but with severe complications and a Caesarean section, six survived. I had to bring her to the vet and had to be spayed on sight as the infection was spreading fast. I kept a little boy this time from this litter. His name is César, which is 'Caesar' in French. He's the only dog out of my breeding program coming out of a 'Caesarean section'.
Even if she is normally not living with me, Hopper has always been a full time member of the Knightcastle crew and a devoted mother, spending 13 months in her life with me. I'll never be thankful enough to Gordon and Nancy for letting me breed her twice. A great and unique friendship was developped between us over these years.
Hopper is now retired.
