How it all started
From this first litter, I kept two fantastic dogs, Céleste and Baxter. Among with Nova and Darwin, these four dogs competed in shows, obedience trials and also hunt tests, putting Knightcastle on the map as a serious North American kennel. Céleste became my third 'Obedience Trial Champion' dog and Baxter adding show, obedience and field titles in Canada and USA, still being the only Knightcastle dog to achieve this.
My current dogs are: Blanche (girl from the third generation), Avril (girl from the fourth generation), my boy César (third generation), Petula (girl from the fourth generation) and Macha (girl from the fifth generation). Retired veteran Hopper (from the second generation), lived all her life with longtime flatcoat owner and dear friend Gordon W Miller in Vermont (USA).
Over the years, I lost my boy Forrest (second generation) in September 2018 and my sweet Cosette (third generation) on January 22 2020 just a couple days after she was bred for the first time. My very special girl Holly (second generation) passed away at nearly 13 years old in September 2021. She was the rock of the pack for all this time and a one in a lifetime friend.
My dogs are part of my life and are living in the house with me, no kennel. My house is in the mountains, surrounded with forest and peaceful environment. They are very active dogs and are in excellent health. I am not pushing them with over-training and retire them from competition at a young age. All my dogs made their Championship titles from the 'Bred by exhibitor' class, handling them myself. I've been a CKC carrying judge for hunt tests and working certificates for retrievers, judging the WC test at the 2013 FCRSC specialty.
In December 2015, the Canadian Kennel Club recognized Knightcastle's hard work and commitment to the breed and granted us the status of 'Permanent Registration of a Kennel Name'. All dogs are sold under contract.
