César

CH Knightcastle Harry Potter

After the death of my beautiful Forrest in September 2018, I found myself without a boy for the first time since 1989. Like always, with each litter, I'm aiming to keep a female but when the 'H' arrived in December 2018, with five boys on the ground, I started to think at the idea of keeping a male this time. Over the first eight weeks of his life, little blue boy made me laugh every day by sitting in front of me, wagging his tail like crazy, barking at me again and again, like his uncles Baxter and Tucker (from the 'Robin Hood' litter) before him. I simply fell in love with this little fellow and after the final assessments, I could not resist to keep him.

When Hopper started whelping the 'H' litter on December 16 2018, she started to experience some problems after delivering six puppies without any issues. I had no choice to bring her for an unplanned emergency c-section (Caesarean section), trying to save her and the four remaning puppies cought inside and of course, Hopper as well. Blue boy is the only one who survived. This is how he got his name: César is Caesar in French! This was the first c-section in Knightcastle's history and César is the only puppy born that way. In reality, he was born on Monday December 17 2019 at the veterinarian clinic, also a first!

César is an enthusiastic flat-coated dog, he fits perfectly in the pack. I have the feeling I'm going to have lots of fun with him and the young girls I have. He seems birdy too. He is the last dog I own from the third generation.

His registered name comes from something very special to me. My friend Brenda lost her beautiful Kia (Can Ch Knightcastle Beatrix Potter DD) in fall 2018. Kia was Hopper's sister. As the theme from this litter was the letter 'H', 'Harry Potter' was a way for me to think of my friend's loss and a link between Kia and Hopper's new son.

As a mature dog now, I can say that he is turning into a real handsome flat-coated. In August 2022, he received all his health clearances from OFA and is now available as stud dog for selected breeders. César is a proven stud male as he bred accidently Petula in summer 2022 for the Showbizz litter, which produced 12 puppies.

César earned his Canadian Champion title at the Ontario Breeders Association events on July 20, 2023, under long time flatcoat breeder Wendy Schira.
