Hudson & Hopper
After a long night ending with an emergency C section for Hopper on December 17, the 'H' litter finally arrived. We lost four puppies, also had so save Hopper in the process, but five boys and one girl are with us, alive and kicking! Hopper also has recovered properly. This litter was the final chapter of Knightcastle's third generation, written by Hopper (Am/Can Ch Knightcastle Graceful Hopper) and Hudson (Am Ch/Can GCH Rowansgaard Paint it Black RN DS CGN). 'H' is the theme for this litter as both names (Hudson and Hopper) start with the same letter. All registered names start with that letter, like the blue collar boy I kept, who is now César (Knightcastle Harry Potter), my little general in the house! Hopper is probably one of the best females coming out of my kennel. She is very stylish, has really good bones, beautiful eyes and a stunning head, like her mother Céleste and her dad, Todd. She is very soft but has lots of energy when needed. She made her Canadian Championship really fast, always shown by me in the 'Bred by Exhibitor' class. She did the same in USA and is currently on her way to obtain her American Grand Championship. Hopper gave me fantastic puppies on her first litter in 2016 and for her second and last one, I was looking for a different pedigree yet similar to the one used with the 'Great Musicians' litter. I decided to go again with this British twist and this is how Hudson came in the picture. What I also like about him is that he seems to always wag his tail, like a real flat-coated retriever! Hudson comes from a very long and stable bloodline, Rowansgaard. I'm expecting classic and good looking puppies with good bones and beautiful heads. According to his owners, Robert Reyburn and Donna Sutherland: 'He is a very affectionate dog who is a pleasure to live with. He Loves to play with people and other dogs and is gentle with children. He enjoys field work very much, his favourite activity is retrieving, especially around water, he is a very strong swimmer. Hudson is a very good working dog, he loves tracking and also Rally-Obedience. He has done very well in the conformation ring, finishing as #3 flat-coated in Canada in 2017. At the 2017 FCRSC Specialty in Kitchener, Hudson took a Judge's Award of Merit. We have another boy at home, Charlie, Hudson is his father and we're very pleased with him.'
