Adopting a Knightcastle puppy

Since 2005, Knightcastle is committed to breed high quality multi-purpose black flat-coated retriever for obedience, hunting, show, agility and of course for good companion dogs. We also have therapy and search and rescue dogs. With four generations, you can find our dogs across Canada, USA, Bermuda (British oversea territory) and UK. The Flat-coated retriever is considered a 'multi-purpose' dog and Knightcastle is always keeping that in mind. We don't breed for one specific goal or purpose. Keep in mind that the flat-coated retriever is an outgoing, optimistic and friendly breed which is demonstrated by enthusiastic tail action. A great companion to have who won't let you down.

Each litter is carefully planned, based on thoughtful consideration of the quality, the pedigree, accomplishments, health clearances (hip, elbows, patellar and eyes) of both the Sire and the Dam ( Orthopedic Foundation for Animals ). That way, we are sure to produce sound and stylish puppies with good working abilities, cheerful and outgoing personalities, like a flat-coated retriever should be. Knightcastle has a litter on the ground only from time to time, mainly to fulfill my own requirments and continue the bloodline, not to accomodate the demands.

We are using the 'Bio Sensor' program, developed by the US Army to stimulate new born puppies ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgHoAKL-m_c ). At eight weeks old, we do these assessments: 'Pully puzzle' by Pat Hastings to understand the finer points of canine structure, the 'Volhard's Puppy Aptitude Testing', a way to test behavioral tendencies and also, all puppies will have duck wings and will go in water (depending on the season) before they leave.

All puppies are registered with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and are under a limited warranty until they reach the age of 24 months against severe hip dysplasia, which would prevent it from carrying out a normal life and also any ocular diseases carrying out to blindness and are solely sold under contract under a CKC non-breeding agreement. No breeding rights are given and the sterilisation of the dog is mndatory (12 months for a female and 24 months for a male). Each puppy will leave for its pre-selected home at around 9 weeks with its first vaccine, already micro-chipped (CKC) and de-wormed. We are not shipping any puppies via cargo, you'll need to come to Knightcastle to get it.

When you become a member of the Knightcastle family, you are encouraged in every way possible to succeed and have a happy life with your new dog.

Important note for people from USA (and other countries): Due to problems with international payment, to make sure you can get your puppy in time, I am asking for the full payment using Internet money transfer, at least three weeks before you get your new Knightcastle puppy. Also, all puppies are sold under a co-ownership agreement. Again, we are not shipping any puppies, you'll need to come to Knightcastle to get it.

Starting in 2022, we've decided to slow down and will have probably only one litter per girl in order to continue this wonderful bloodline but also to limit the number of active dogs in the house. Litter plans will be announced as they come.
